On June 3rd, 2008 election night, hundreds of supporters and well wishers for Carol Chen crowded the campaign headquarter celebrating the victory party. Having garned over 42% of the votes, it was a decisive win for Carol.
"I want to thank the Cerritos' voters for their trust and confidence in me." said Carol, "I narrowly lost in the past March city council election. Tonight's result confirms the people of Cerritos once again choose me as their representative on City Council."

April 18, 2008 - Tonight, at a fundraising dinner, nearly 300 supporters of Carol Chen gathered together and cheered her on as she declares her candidacy for Cerritos City Council in this special election on June 3rd.
Congressman Ed Royce, Assembly member Van Tran, Mayor Pro Tem Bruce Barrows, Former Mayor Grace Hu, Former Mayor Paul Zee, ABC School Board member Sophia Tse, Former Mayor, Diana Needham, Paul Bowlen, Barry Rabbitt were all in attendance showing their strong support of Carol's bid for the vacant seat.
"As your next Council member, I solemnly pledge to safeguard our economic vitality and resources, adhere to solid fiscal management, ensure that our high standards remain intact and do what is necessary to improve our public safety and quality of life" said Carol.

Sunday, May 18, 2008, over 120 guests from the Filipino American community celebrated Carol's birthday and the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month at a dinner dance at the CCPA.
